Klopp’s knot and goodbye to the dream of the treble.. Liverpool bid farewell to Europa League

Liverpool bid farewell to the Europa League despite achieving a 1-0 victory over Atalanta at its home stadium in the second leg of the quarter-finals of the competition.

The first leg between the two teams ended with the Italian club winning 3-0 at Anfield, allowing Atalanta to qualify, on aggregate, 3-1, for the semi-finals.

The only goal of the match came for the Reds through Mohamed Salah from a penalty kick in the seventh minute, before Al-Masry wasted more than one chance to reduce the difference.

The Europa League competition became the only competition that Jurgen Klopp failed to achieve with Liverpool over the 8 years of his leadership of the Reds.

The current edition was the second edition in which Club led the Reds in the European League, after the first in 2015, when he lost the final to Sevilla.

At the same time, Liverpool’s hopes of achieving the historic treble ended by bidding farewell to the European League, so that the Red Club’s only and last hope for the remainder of the season was the Premier League title.

Liverpool currently occupies third place in the Premier League standings, two points behind leaders Manchester City, and on par with runner-up Arsenal, with the Gunners having an advantage on goal difference.

It is noteworthy that Liverpool won the Carabao Cup after defeating Chelsea in the final match at Wembley Stadium.
