“Sport” newspaper reported that Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich has rejected an offer from Barcelona to join its ranks in the upcoming summer transfer period.
The German international’s contract with Bayern expires in the summer of 2025, and the Bavarian club will not mind selling him in 2024 in light of not reaching an agreement with him yet regarding the renewal.
With Barcelona’s contract with Hansi Flick, it was said that there were attempts to sign Kimmich, especially since his relationship with the German coach was strong after they worked together at Bayern and the German national team.
But the latest report from Sport confirms that negotiations between Barcelona and Kimmich have stopped, and the reason for this is the player’s refusal to reduce the salary he currently receives at Bayern Munich.
The 29-year-old earns approximately 20 million euros annually from Bayern Munich, a number that is currently impossible for Barcelona to pay due to the stifling economic crisis.
Kimmich is now out of Barca’s accounts for the new season in light of Joan Laporta’s management being convinced that he cannot change his mind in this regard, in addition to the interest of other European clubs in a better economic situation in obtaining the player’s services.
