Nasr Yahya, the agent of Algerian star Ahmed Kandoussi, revealed that his client is open to joining Zamalek, provided the White Knights submit a formal and suitable offer.
These statements have fueled speculation about the possibility of the player, currently playing for Swiss club Lugano, returning to the Egyptian Premier League through Al Ahly’s arch-rivals, after years spent at the Red Castle (Al Ahly) and later with Ceramica Cleopatra.
Yahya also categorically denied any secret or public agreement preventing Kandoussi from wearing the Zamalek jersey, thus refuting rumors circulating about a clause between Al Ahly and his former Egyptian club, Ceramica Cleopatra, restricting his movement within the local league.
Yahya further indicated that the Algerian star is currently focused on his career in Europe and pointed out that actual negotiations with Zamalek have not yet begun, and no official contact has taken place to date.
According to the agent, a “friendly” phone call took place before the player’s move to Switzerland with Zamalek officials. The purpose of the call was to gauge the player’s interest and the possibility of signing him. However, this conversation, which took place with Ayman El-Ramady and Hossam El-Mandouh, never progressed to a formal offer or serious financial negotiations.
It remains unlikely that Zamalek will make a move for Kandoussi next winter due to their complex financial situation and debts exceeding $6 million.
However, next summer Kandoussi would be a logical target for Hussein Labib’s administration, given their pressing need for a new midfielder. Nevertheless, this too will depend on the financial situation at that time.
