Brazilian winger Juan Bezerra has issued an official statement criticizing Zamalek SC’s management, accusing the Egyptian giants of reneging on a clear promise to allow his departure despite receiving a bid that would have made him the most expensive sale in the club’s history.
Bezerra’s statement coincides with reports linking him to Shabab Al-Ahli of the UAE, alongside a communication breakdown between Zamalek and the player’s agent due to unpaid agency fees.
The Brazilian explained that he turned down lucrative offers late last year, driven by a desire to remain in Cairo and help Zamalek recapture the Egyptian Premier League title after a four-year drought—a decision he insists he does not regret.
“The club promised me and my father multiple times that they would permit my sale and set a fixed release price,” Bezerra stated. “The offer arrived as discussed, and it would have made me the biggest sale in the club’s history.” However, he claimed the board failed to honor the verbal agreement.
The player noted that this is not the first time agreements have gone unfulfilled, stressing that he will no longer accept broken promises. He denied being the source of the conflict, pointing out that his exit would have provided Zamalek with vital financial capital.
Bezerra concluded his statement by reassuring Zamalek fans of his respect and long-standing commitment to the shirt, while emphasizing that recent events have pushed him past his limit.
According to FilGoal, Zamalek have settled all outstanding financial dues to the player and his former club, while initiating talks to resolve his agent’s commission fees.
Bezerra has made 44 appearances for Zamalek, registering 8 goals and 12 assists during his tenure with the White Knights.
