JS Kabylie launched a scathing attack on Al Ahly over the Egyptian club’s stance regarding the presence of Algerian fans at their CAF Champions League match at Cairo International Stadium.
Al Ahly defeated JS Kabylie 4-1 in their opening group stage match, in a group that also includes Morocco’s FAR Rabat and Tanzania’s Young Africans.
Following the match, JS Kabylie released a statement criticizing Al Ahly for what it deemed a “disrespect for fair play principles.”
According to the statement, during the pre-match technical meeting, JS Kabylie refused to require its fans to purchase tickets through the Tazkarti platform and requested a fair and equitable solution, such as opening a separate ticket window at the stadium.
JS Kabylie officials were surprised to find that only 750 tickets had been allocated to Algerian fans, a figure that violates CAF regulations. The club also complained of confusion in the distribution of tickets and invitations, as well as a less-than-expected welcome ceremony for the Algerian delegation, which fell far short of what was customary for a prestigious club like Al Ahly.
JS Kabylie called on the relevant authorities to intervene to prevent a recurrence of such violations, which contravene the principles of fair play and respect for fans. The club expressed its regret to its supporters for what happened and thanked the significant number of fans who attended the match despite these difficulties.
It is worth noting that JS Kabylie will host Al Ahly at the Tizi Ouzou Stadium next February when the CAF Champions League resumes after a long hiatus from November to January due to the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
