Juventus’ management has reached an agreement with a new coach to succeed Igor Tudor at the helm of the Bianconeri.
Tudor was dismissed following a recent decline in results, specifically after suffering three consecutive defeats against Como and Lazio in Serie A and Real Madrid in the Champions League.
According to Italian media reports, former Italy national team coach Luciano Spalletti has agreed to take over at Juventus on a short-term contract.
Spalletti met with Juventus’ management on Tuesday and accepted the offer to coach Juve until next June, with an option to extend for another year if he succeeds in qualifying for the Champions League next season.
Since Tudor’s dismissal, Spalletti had been Juventus’ first choice, while recent reports indicate that Roberto Mancini was never on the management’s radar, with Raffaele Palladino being the alternative plan.
Spalletti is one of the most experienced coaches in the intricacies of Italian football, having previously coached several major clubs, most notably Roma. His experience with Napoli was the most successful, as he led the southern team to win the Serie A title for the first time in decades.
