It’s over… This is Chelsea’s new manager, replacing Maresca

The French newspaper L’Equipe has confirmed that Liam Rosenior, the current Strasbourg manager, is on the verge of taking over at Chelsea, replacing the sacked Enzo Maresca.

The Blues announced the Italian manager’s sudden dismissal last Thursday after disagreements with the board escalated, appointing Callum McFarlane as interim manager until a permanent replacement is found.

According to the report, Chelsea have settled on Rosenior for the job after the impressive performances Strasbourg delivered under his leadership over the past year.

Strasbourg is also owned by the same company that owns Chelsea, so reaching an agreement for his move to Stamford Bridge should be straightforward.

If things go as planned, Rosenior will take charge of Chelsea starting with their Premier League match against Fulham next Wednesday.

The 41-year-old coach led Strasbourg to seventh place in Ligue 1 and currently tops their group in the Europa League.

It’s worth noting that Xavi Hernandez was Chelsea’s first choice to succeed Maresca, before the Catalan coach rejected the offer without giving a reason.
