Antoine Griezmann has made his final decision to leave Atlético Madrid at the end of the current season, embarking on a new chapter in his football career in Major League Soccer (MLS).
The 35-year-old, Atlético’s all-time leading scorer, will use the international break to finalize his future as he prepares to bid farewell to the Riyadh Air Metropolitano stadium.
Earlier this year, Griezmann was heavily linked with a move to Orlando City, who were keen to sign him for the 2026 MLS season. However, the former French international opted to finish the remainder of the European season with Atlético, driven by the club’s ambitions to compete for both the Champions League and Copa del Rey titles.
Now, Griezmann has made his decision to pursue his dream of playing in the United States, with Marca reporting that he has given the green light to join Orlando City this summer.
He is scheduled to travel to the United States in the coming days to finalize the details of his contract with the Florida-based club, having received official permission from Atlético Madrid’s management.
Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Atlético Madrid will not stand in the way of their star player’s departure, as the management has decided to allow him to leave for free, despite his contract running until the summer of 2027.
The club views this move as a gesture of gratitude to one of the best players in its history, and in recognition of his desire to end his career with the club at this time.
