Tottenham’s right-back, Pedro Porro, has been linked with a move to Real Madrid during the upcoming winter transfer window, sparking considerable debate about whether Florentino Pérez’s administration will break with tradition and sign a player in the winter transfer market.
It’s clear that Real Madrid needs a right-back given the recurring injuries to Dani Carvajal and Trent Alexander-Arnold, which ultimately forces Xabi Alonso to rely on Raúl Asensio or Fede Valverde to fill the gap.
Porro is considered one of the best right-backs in the world and in the English Premier League, and Real Madrid’s interest in him dates back to his time at Sporting Lisbon, lending some initial credibility to these reports.
However, according to Spanish reports, Real Madrid will not attempt to sign Pedro Porro or any other player during the current winter transfer window. There is no intention to change Florentino Pérez’s stance on this matter unless a major crisis occurs within the squad during January.
At the same time, even if Real Madrid wanted to sign the Portuguese full-back, Tottenham would undoubtedly stand in the way. To agree to a sale or loan, they would demand a hefty sum, which contradicts Real Madrid’s overall policy and reinforces Pérez’s belief that winter transfer fees are always inflated.
Unless something changes, Real Madrid’s only winter move will likely be the loan of Andrés Indrej. Aside from that, no new players will be added to Xabi Alonso’s squad.
