Iraola will leave the Cherries at the end of the current season in search of a new challenge, having established himself as one of the Premier League’s top managers over the past three years.

Following the sacking of Liam Rossiniero, Chelsea began exploring available options, with Iraola being among the leading candidates, along with current Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner.

According to Romano, Iraola is keen on the Chelsea job, as he is eager to remain in the Premier League.

Despite the Basque coach’s initial agreement, Chelsea’s board has yet to make a final decision, preferring to wait until the end of the season before appointing a new manager.

Chelsea’s management has several options besides Iraola and Glasner, including Xavi Hernandez, Cesc Fabregas, and German coach Julian Nagelsmann.

Fabregas is likely to remain at Como, while it’s unclear whether Nagelsmann will stay with Germany after the 2026 World Cup or leave. It’s worth noting that Xavi previously rejected an offer from the English club to succeed Enzo Maresca earlier this year.
