The referee of the Newcastle and Manchester City match in the Premier League awarded a very strange penalty kick, confirmed by the video technology.
The shot began when Anthony Gordon was alone in front of Ederson’s goal, then what appeared to be friction occurred between them, so the referee announced a penalty kick.
The strange thing is that when the shot was shown from a clearer angle, it was clear that Ederson did not touch Gordon, but rather the latter threw himself to the ground without friction.
However, after returning to the video technology, it acknowledged the friction, so the camera came to Pep Guardiola’s face, who appeared extremely angry at this controversial decision.
Gordon was able to convert the penalty kick into the net to equalize at St. James’ Park.
The picture speaks for itself..
