Egypt national team star Imam Ashour has successfully netted his second goal of the 2026 World Cup after scoring against Australia in the Round of 32 clash at the Dallas stadium.
The Al-Ahli midfielder had previously scored Egypt’s opening goal in the tournament—hosted across the USA, Canada, and Mexico—with an unstoppable long-range screamer against Belgium’s goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, in a match that ended in a 1-1 draw.
Now, Ashour found the back of the net once again, this time with a precise header in the 12th minute against Australia, perfectly converting a cross from Karim Hafez.
With this goal, Imam Ashour has become Egypt’s joint second all-time top scorer in World Cup history with two goals, tying Abdulrahman Fawzi, who scored the Pharaohs’ only two goals against Hungary in the 1934 World Cup.
Mohamed Salah remains Egypt’s all-time top World Cup scorer with three goals, having scored twice in the 2018 Russia edition and once in the 2026 edition against New Zealand during the group stage.
