After rounds of negotiations, Arsenal secured a major summer signing: the signing of Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyökeres.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, after the player’s intense pressure on the Portuguese club, the president agreed to reduce his financial demands, which ultimately contributed to the desired deal being finalized.
Arsenal will pay a fixed fee of €63.5 million to Sporting Lisbon, plus an additional €10 million in easily achievable variables, bringing the total value of the deal to €73.5 million.
At the same time, Gyökeres’ agent agreed to reduce his commission of 10%, which facilitated negotiations between the two clubs. Sporting Lisbon accepted this figure after the Portuguese club had previously demanded a fixed fee of €70 million.
It is expected that the contracts will be officially signed within a few hours, bringing the curtain down on the prolonged conflict between the Swedish player and Sporting Lisbon since early June.
It’s worth noting that Gyökereshas officially signed three players so far: goalkeeper Kepa, Christian Nørgaard, and Martin Zubimendi. In addition to Gyökeres, the club has also completed the signing of Noni Madueke from Chelsea.
