There has been much debate surrounding the length of Dominik Szoboszlai’s suspension from Liverpool after he received a red card against Manchester City on Sunday in the Premier League.
The Hungarian international fouled Erling Haaland in the dying moments of the game, preventing a certain goal for Manchester City, and received a straight red card.
A straight red card usually results in a three-day suspension, but this will not be the case for Szoboszlai.
Liverpool confirmed on their official website that Szoboszlai’s suspension will be limited to one match only, the upcoming game against Sunderland.
This is due to the nature of the red card, which was issued solely for preventing a goal in the final moments and not for violent conduct or dissent.
It’s worth noting that Szoboszlai scored Liverpool’s only goal against City with a stunning free kick, but the visitors managed to come back in the final minutes and win 2-1 at Anfield.
