Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeness has stated that he “assumes” Harry Kane will see out his contract with the club, despite having the option to activate a clause allowing him to leave early in January.
The England captain continues to be linked with Spanish giants Barcelona after revealing that he has yet to begin talks about extending his current contract, which expires in 2027.
Hoeness confirmed reports in the German media that Kane’s contract includes a €65 million release clause that can be activated this summer, provided Bayern Munich is notified in January.
“I don’t think he will activate this clause,” Hoeness added. “We assume he will definitely see out his contract until 2027.”
“And if it were up to us, and I’ve heard he wants to, he would extend his contract. His family is very comfortable.”
He concluded, “In Munich, you can still go about your business in peace.” Harry Kane always had bodyguards at his home (in London, when he played for Tottenham). “You don’t necessarily need that kind of lifestyle.”
Kane has been in sensational form for Bayern Munich and England this year, scoring 24 goals in just 20 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga giants, who currently sit top of the table eight points ahead of second-placed RB Leipzig.
