Yasser Ibrahim has put the Egypt national team ahead, scoring a historic opening goal for the Pharaohs against Argentina in the 2026 World Cup round of 16.
The Al Ahly defender brilliantly capitalized on a precise cross from Marwan Attia, meeting it with a perfect header into the opposite corner past goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez. The stunning goal put Egypt in front in the 14th minute.
Yasser Ibrahim Sets Historic Milestone for Egypt
With this goal, Yasser Ibrahim has become the first player in history to score for Egypt in a World Cup round of 16 match. He is also only the second Egyptian player ever to find the back of the net in the tournament’s knockout stages, following Emam Ashour.
Overall, this marks the second international goal for the 33-year-old defender in his career. Interestingly, his first international goal also came in a round of 16 clash, during the recent Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) against Benin.
