Helmy Toulan blames Pyramids FC for Egypt’s Arab Cup exit!

The Egyptian national team was eliminated from the 2025 Arab Cup in the group stage after a 3-0 defeat to Jordan in their third group match.

The Pharaohs failed to secure a single victory in the tournament, drawing 1-1 with both Kuwait and the UAE in their first two matches, before finally succumbing to the Jordanians.

Following the defeat, coach Helmy Toulan commented on Egypt’s elimination, placing the blame squarely on Pyramids FC and the lack of support from officials.

Toulan told the media, “The Egyptian league wasn’t suspended because of Pyramids FC, and everyone knows the level of Pyramids’ players.”

He added, “We came to the tournament without seven key players, and I had to bring in new ones. Whose responsibility is this?”

He added, “This national team didn’t receive the necessary support. Some officials even stated that these matches were friendly, not official, which affected how they were handled. Ironically, 15 other national teams suspended their leagues to call up their players, while the Egyptian league did nothing.”

He continued, “Jordan scored three goals from three chances, while we wasted seven opportunities and didn’t score. That’s football.”

He concluded, “I thank only two people who supported and stood by this team: Hani Abu Rida, the president of the Egyptian Football Association, and the media personality Medhat Shalaby.”
