Hazem Emam calls for the immediate departure of 10 Zamalek players!

Zamalek legend Hazem Emam has launched a scathing attack on the club’s sporting director, John Edward, following their 2-0 defeat to Al Ahly in the 2025 Egyptian Super Cup final.

Zamalek delivered a lackluster performance in the Cairo derby, held in Abu Dhabi, clearly lacking in quality. Emam was visibly furious after the match.

“In my opinion,” the “Little Fox” told ON Sport, “Zamalek should sell all the players they signed last summer.”

He added, “We should just let Juan Bezerra go, and then sign three or four players in January. I honestly don’t know if the club has the funds or not.”

When asked about letting go of all of John Edward’s summer signings, Emam concluded, “Yes, without a doubt. Have any of them contributed anything? There’s been no significant addition, and we’ve played 14 matches this season. Only Bezerra has made a difference.”

Last summer, Zamalek signed 10 players, in addition to Juan Bezerra, with a transfer budget exceeding 200 million Egyptian pounds.

John Edward brought to Zamalek the Pharco duo Amr Nasser and Ahmed Sherif, Portuguese winger Chico Banza, along with Ahmed Rabie, Mohamed Ismail, Moroccan Abdelhamid Maali, goalkeeper El Mahdi Soliman, Ugandan Baron Ochieng, and the Palestinian duo Oday Dabbagh and Adam Kayed.

Zamalek currently sits third in the Egyptian Premier League and is competing in the Round of 16 of the CAF Confederation Cup, but their performance has been highly inconsistent, suffering two defeats against Al Ahly in just 41 days.
