Paris Saint-Germain star Achraf Hakimi suffered a horrific injury during the Champions League group stage match against Bayern Munich.
While dribbling the ball in the final minutes of the first half, the Moroccan international was tackled violently by Luis Diaz. It was clear that Hakimi’s ankle twisted badly, raising concerns about significant ligament damage that could sideline him for an extended period.
Hakimi collapsed to the ground, crying in agony. He was unable to put his injured ankle on the ground and walk off the pitch, leaving everyone at the Parc des Princes in shock and deeply worried about the severity of the injury.

VAR reviewed the incident, and the referee issued a straight red card to Luis Diaz for the reckless challenge.
Hakimi left the field in tears. Strangely, the ball wasn’t dangerous or worth risking such a tackle, and Diaz himself had already scored two goals for Bayern, so things were calm and settled for Vincent Kompany’s team.
It’s worth noting that Morocco is hosting the Africa Cup of Nations next month, and it appears that Hakimi will miss the tournament due to this injury. If it’s as expected, his chances of even making it to the 2026 World Cup in June are unlikely to be high.
