Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is adamant about keeping Omar Marmoush and not letting him leave during the winter transfer window, despite the Egyptian’s lack of consistent playing time with the English club this season.
City are on the verge of signing Antoine Simeone from Bournemouth for €65 million, and consequently, it was expected that either Marmoush or Savinho would leave in the winter transfer window.
However, surprisingly, Guardiola wants both players to stay and will fight to keep them. Instead, he prefers to let Oscar Pope leave, who has already begun looking for a new club after losing any opportunities to play with the manager’s squad.
Guardiola believes the season is still long and every player in his current squad is needed. While Simeone will increase the number of strikers in the squad, everyone’s chances of playing remain almost equal, depending solely on who impresses in training.
Marmoush has received numerous offers recently, with Tottenham reportedly being the frontrunners to sign the Egyptian international.
Roma also appears to be a potential destination for the “Egyptian Prince,” given the Giallorossi’s continued interest in him since last summer, and his reported enthusiasm for a move to Serie A, similar to Mohamed Salah’s initial foray into England.
