Guardiola insists: I will never stop supporting Gaza at every opportunity

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has reaffirmed his support for the Palestinian people, emphasizing that he will continue to speak out against Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza to help achieve justice and peace.

On Tuesday, the Manchester City boss used the pre-match press conference ahead of his team’s Carabao Cup game against Tottenham Hotspur as a platform to highlight the plight of those affected by wars around the world, particularly in Gaza.

“Never before in human history have we had such clear information and seen it so clearly,” Guardiola told reporters.

“Genocide in Palestine, what happened in Ukraine, what happened in Russia, what happened all over the world—in Sudan and everywhere else. What is happening in front of us? Do you want to see it? These are our problems as human beings, these are all our problems.”

He added, “Even if it were the other side, it would still hurt me. The desire to harm another country? That hurts me. The killing of thousands of innocent people? That hurts me. It’s not more complicated than that.”

The Catalan coach emphasized that protecting human life is paramount, saying, “What’s happening now, with all the technology and progress we have… humanity is at its peak in terms of potential; we can reach the moon, we can do anything.”

He added sadly, “But we are still, even now, killing each other. For what? When I see these images, I’m sorry, it hurts me.”

Guardiola concluded, “That’s why, in every position where I can help by speaking out to make us a better society, I will try and I will be there. From my point of view, do you want justice? Then you have to speak out.”
