According to the Daily Mail, Guardiola canceled City’s final training session before the Dortmund match on Tuesday, giving the players the day off.
The manager explained his decision by saying he wants to give the players a physical rest so they are in peak condition for the game. He believes an extra training session would increase their physical workload before the match and could lead to injuries.
It is reported that Guardiola is planning a short training session on Wednesday morning, just hours before the Dortmund game, focusing on tactical drills.
This is the first time in Guardiola’s managerial career that he has canceled a training session the day before a match.
Manchester City have collected 7 points from the first three rounds thanks to two wins and a draw, placing them in seventh position, the same tally as Dortmund.
