Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that the Barcelona chapter is completely over for him, and he will not return, even in a position other than coach.
The Spanish philosopher, who won 14 trophies with Barcelona between 2008 and 2012, said, “It’s over forever. It was a beautiful period, but it’s over. Returning as president of Barcelona? I’m not fit for that.”
Meanwhile, Guardiola revealed that he will take a long break once his time with Manchester City comes to an end.
He added, “I have definitely decided to stop for an indefinite period after the end of my career with City. One year, two years, three years, five years, 10 years, I don’t know.”
Guardiola rejected comparisons between Lamine Yamal and Lionel Messi, saying, “Messi was something else. We’re talking about a player who scored 90 goals in a single season for 15 years without stopping, without injuries. That’s another level.”
He continued, “Let Yamal build his career. Comparing him to Messi is a big deal. When he’s 15 years into his career, we’ll judge whether he’s better or worse.”
He concluded by speaking about the pressures he faces as a coach: “There’s no other profession, whether it’s an engineer, a teacher, a doctor, or a journalist, where 60,000 people want you to lose your job. But our profession pays us a lot of money, and that’s why we accept this situation.”
