Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola confirmed the absence of duo John Stones and Kyle Walker from the Arsenal match in the Premier League due to injury.
Walker was injured during the friendly match between England and Brazil and injured his hamstring, while Stones left the match between England and Belgium due to an injury to the adductor muscle.
Although the news from the City camp was reassuring that the two injuries were not serious, the duo would not succeed in participating in the Arsenal match.
Guardiola did not reveal the details of Stones and Walker’s injuries, or specify the duration of their expected absence from the field and whether or not they will return in the match against Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals.
City is scheduled to meet Arsenal next Sunday, then face Aston Villa on Wednesday, then host Crystal Palace on Saturday, before heading to Madrid for the match on Tuesday, April 9.
According to what the English media reported, it is most likely that the decision to keep Walker and Stones out of the Arsenal match is a precautionary measure to prevent the injury from worsening before the crucial period that awaits City this season.
Arsenal leads the Premier League standings with 64 points and a goal difference over Liverpool, while Manchester City comes in third place with 63 points.
