A Manchester City star will be out for a long period of time due to injury, according to what manager Pep Guardiola announced after the recent Brighton match.
Rayyan Cherki missed City’s match against Brighton due to injury. Guardiola did not specify the length of his absence before the match, making brief statements about the matter.
After the 2-1 loss to Brighton at Falmer Stadium, Guardiola spoke to the media and announced that Cherki had suffered a torn quadriceps muscle and would need at least two months to return to action.
Minutes after Guardiola’s announcement, the French Football Federation announced Cherki’s exclusion from the upcoming international break and the signing of Liverpool star Hugo Ekitike in his place.
Rayyan Cherki joined Manchester City from Lyon for €30 million and was widely criticized for his poor performances during the start of the Premier League season and even during the Club World Cup.
Sharqi’s absence will extend until early November, and he will miss the first two rounds of the Champions League, along with several important Premier League matches.
