Egyptian media reported that Zamalek has settled on the name of the player it will contract with to support the left wing position during the current summer Mercato.
The first goal of the White Castle was to contract with Ashraf Bencherki, but the Moroccan preferred to sign a new contract with Al Rayyan for two years.
According to reports, Zamalek is intensifying its negotiations with Al-Ahli of Saudi Arabia in order to include Gambian winger Modou Barrow based on an urgent desire from coach Jose Gomez.
Things seem promising between Zamalek and Al-Ahli in particular in light of the Saudi club’s desire to get rid of the player, and the Egyptian club is close to reaching an agreement with Barrow on personal terms.
Egyptian media have put forward more than one name in the past few days to fill the left wing position, but everyone now agrees that Barrow is very close to “Mit Okba”.
The 31-year-old Barrow has a long career on the pitch, having played for several English clubs such as Swansea City, Nottingham Forest, Leeds United and Reading, and shone with Jeonbuk Motors in Korea. He also played half of last season with Sivasspor in Turkey.
