Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Arda Güler to extend his contract until the summer of 2031, following the Turkish international’s emergence as a key starter in José Mourinho’s side.
This marks Güler’s first contract renewal since joining the club. His previous deal was set to expire in 2029, but both parties agreed to add two extra years along with a salary increase reflecting his newfound status, though specific financial details were not disclosed.
Güler joined Real Madrid from Fenerbahçe on July 6, 2023, at the age of 18, signing a six-year deal for a fixed fee of €20 million plus approximately €8 million in performance-related add-ons.
Injuries initially delayed his integration before he made his official debut against Arandina in the Copa del Rey on January 6, 2024. From there, he gradually established himself, showcasing his talent as a winger, attacking midfielder, and central playmaker.
Güler reached his 100th appearance for Real Madrid against Benfica in February 2026, recording 74 victories across those first 100 matches—including 63 in La Liga, 17 in the Champions League, 9 in the Copa del Rey, and 7 in the FIFA Club World Cup, alongside 4 appearances across the Spanish and UEFA Super Cups.
The previous campaign proved to be his true breakthrough season. He featured in 51 matches (starting 40), scoring 6 goals and providing 14 assists—finishing as Real Madrid’s top assist provider. He was also named UEFA Champions League Young Player of the Season after playing in all 14 of the club’s matches in the competition.
So far this season, Güler has featured in all 7 of Real Madrid’s opening La Liga fixtures (starting 5), accumulating 349 minutes while contributing 1 goal and 2 assists, firmly establishing himself as a regular starter under Mourinho rather than a rotational option.
Commenting on the 21-year-old, Mourinho said: “His quality of play is incredible—his vision, decision-making, game organization, the stability he gives the team, and his ability to create chances. He is a player with fantastic potential and an enormous impact that goes far beyond just goals and assists.”
Güler will be just 26 years old when his new contract expires, underscoring Real Madrid’s view of him as a crucial figure for both the present and the long-term future of their project, completing a three-year transformation from an injury-plagued prospect into an influential midfield star.
