Philippe Diallo, président de la Fédération française de football, a répondu aux informations rapportées ces derniers jours sur sa décision d’interdire aux joueurs français musulmans de jeûner pendant le mois de Ramadan.
Les journaux français ont rapporté que Diallo avait publié un décret interdisant de jeûner pendant toute la durée du camp, et pas seulement les jours de match.
Mohamed Diarra a été exclu du camp de l’équipe de France U-19 en raison de son refus de rompre le jeûne et de son insistance sur le jeûne, ce qui a suscité une colère généralisée contre la Fédération française.
Interrogé à ce sujet, Diallo a répondu : « Nous respectons les convictions de chacun et personne dans la Fédération française, que ce soit moi ou qui que ce soit, n’a empêché qui que ce soit de jeûner. »
Il a également ajouté : « J’ai entendu dire qu’il existe une fatwa islamique concernant la possibilité de reporter le jeûne pour ceux qui pratiquent des sports vigoureux ».
Dans le même temps, il ressort clairement du discours de Diallo qu’il n’a pas soutenu les joueurs musulmans de manière appropriée, puisqu’il a déclaré : « Il n’y a aucune possibilité de modifier la date de l’entraînement ou de prendre des repas en réponse à des rituels religieux, quels qu’ils soient ».
Il a conclu : « Nous ne choisissons pas les joueurs des différentes équipes de France en fonction de leur religion. Nous sommes soumis à un procès inéquitable fondé sur des mensonges largement répandus. »
