Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri expressed his happiness at the Italian club, responding to reports linking him to the Real Madrid job next season.
Italian newspapers claimed that Florentino Perez’s administration has identified Allegri as their top choice to replace Alvaro Arbeloa, whose departure is expected at the end of the current season.
At the press conference before Sunday’s Milan derby against Inter, Allegri was asked about his stance on coaching Real Madrid. He replied, “I’m happy at Milan, and my contract runs until 2027.”
He added, “The club is working hard to improve the squad for next season; things are going well here.”
Allegri’s response could be seen as diplomatic, as he neither definitively confirmed his continued stay at Milan nor ruled out a potential move to Real Madrid should the opportunity arise.
This is Real Madrid’s third attempt to sign Allegri, after the 2019 attempt, and the closest attempt in 2021 when the two sides reached an agreement on all the details, before the coach decided to back out and return to Juventus.
