Following Liverpool’s cryptic statement, Slot reveals the duration of Isak’s absence

Liverpool’s statement announcing Alexander Isak’s ankle surgery was somewhat ambiguous regarding the length of time the Swedish international would be out for the Reds.

Isaac suffered a broken ankle during Liverpool’s match against Tottenham and underwent successful surgery on Monday. Liverpool’s statement only indicated he would be out for “several months.”

Slott appeared at the press conference ahead of Liverpool’s match against Wolverhampton scheduled for Saturday and revealed that Isak will be sidelined for at least two months.

The Dutch manager continued, “It will be a long-term injury, at least two months out. This is very disappointing for him and for us as well.”

He concluded, “Isaak’s injury, in my opinion, was a reckless tackle. The tackle was completely unintentional. I don’t think it’s possible for an injury to result from a tackle like that. If that tackle were repeated ten times, there’s a possibility of a serious injury.”

Isak had previously missed five matches between October and November with a thigh injury, and this latest setback further complicates his inconsistent start to his Liverpool career since his record-breaking £125 million move from Newcastle this summer.

Isak has scored just three goals in 16 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool so far.
