Florian Wirtz is close to becoming the most expensive player in Premier League history!

Negotiations have progressed strongly between Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen for the English club to sign Florian Wirtz during the current summer transfer window.

Wirtz informed Leverkusen that he only wanted to move to Liverpool after a conversation with coach Arne Slot, during which he convinced him of the Reds’ project.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool has offered Wirtz €130 million.

Liverpool will likely pay a fixed sum of €100 million or slightly more, with the remainder in variables currently being agreed upon between the two clubs.

The total value of the deal would make Wirtz the most expensive player in Premier League history, breaking the record set by Enzo Fernandez, who was acquired by Chelsea from Benfica for €120 million.

Wirtz will be Liverpool’s second signing from Leverkusen this season, after the English club acquired Jeremie Frimpong for €35 million.
