Financial Fair Play Dilemma: Rashford Will Not Play Against Mallorca, and Garcia’s Situation Is Complicated!

It appears that Barcelona’s situation with Financial Fair Play regulations is much deeper than Joan Laporta has revealed to the media. The Catalan club is currently in trouble days before its first La Liga match against Real Mallorca.

Sport newspaper revealed that Marcus Rashford will not be in the Mallorca match, and Barcelona’s management is not expected to succeed in registering him before the end of this month due to the difficulty of complying with Financial Fair Play regulations so far.

Barcelona’s current priority is registering goalkeeper Juan Garcia, given Ter Stegen’s injury and the failure to register Szczesny after his contract renewal. This leaves Iñaki Peña as the only available option, and he does not enjoy the confidence of coach Hansi Flick.

Barcelona’s primary plan for registering Garcia is for La Liga to approve Ter Stegen’s medical report and confirm his absence for more than four months. At that point, the new goalkeeper can be registered, but even this is not guaranteed.

Barcelona’s board is considering registering Garcia based on a direct personal guarantee from a board member, a temporary solution until the 1:1 rule is reached at the end of August.

Despite the complex situation, sporting director Deco is working daily to reassure Garcia and Rashford that their registrations will eventually happen. The duo remain unconcerned and are convinced that the Catalan club will find a solution, as happened last year with Dani Olmo.
