FIFA has fined Zamalek another sum due to outstanding payments owed to former coach Yannick Ferrera.
Ferreira took over as Zamalek’s coach last summer but was dismissed in November due to poor results.
The contract between the two parties stipulated that Ferrera would receive the full remainder of his contract upon dismissal. Zamalek officials managed to persuade the Belgian coach to accept only half the agreed-upon amount.
Ultimately, Zamalek was unable to pay the agreed-upon sum due to the recent financial crisis that has plagued the club, prompting the coach to appeal to FIFA.
According to Egyptian media, FIFA has imposed a hefty fine of $160,000 on Zamalek, representing Ferrera’s full outstanding dues.
It is reported that Hussein Labib’s administration will attempt to renegotiate with Ferrera to reduce this amount.
It is worth noting that Zamalek is suffering from 11 other fines due to outstanding payments to former players and coaches Christian Gross and Jose Gomes, which has resulted in a three-window transfer ban starting from last January.
