The draw for the Saudi King’s Cup quarter-finals took place on Wednesday evening, resulting in a number of highly anticipated matches between the eight teams that reached this stage.
The biggest surprise of the Round of 16 was Al-Nassr’s early exit from the competition for the second consecutive season, following their defeat to defending champions Al-Ittihad at Al-Nassr Park by a score of 2-1.
Al-Hilal secured their place in the next round after defeating Al-Akhdoud, while the most decorated team in the competition’s history, Al-Ahli, triumphed with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Al-Batin. Al-Qadisiyah, Al-Kholoud, and Al-Fateh also advanced.
The most anticipated quarter-final match will be the clash between last year’s runners-up, Al-Qadisiyah, and Al-Ahli. This match could be considered an early final, given the quality of both teams and their impressive performances this season.
Another highly competitive and exciting match will see Al-Ittihad take on Al-Shabab. All eyes will be on Abderrazak Hamdallah, who has a history of scoring against his former club and will be looking to repeat that feat and lead Al-Shabab to the semi-finals.
Al-Hilal received a largely favorable draw, facing Al-Fateh in their quarter-final match. The final quarter-final will be between Al-Kholoud and Al-Khaleej.
The quarter-final matches of the Saudi King’s Cup will be held on November 28th and 29th, before the Saudi national team takes a break to participate in the Arab Cup in Qatar.
