Zamalek coach Yannick Ferreira expressed his disappointment with the draw against Ghazl El Mahalla, believing individual errors are the reason for the repeated loss of points this season in the Egyptian Premier League.
For the third consecutive match, Zamalek failed to maintain their lead, this time drawing 1-1 with Ghazl El Mahalla after losing last week’s derby 2-1 to Al Ahly, and before that, drawing 1-1 with El Gouna.
Ferreira said after the draw, “All matches have different scenarios, but what is similar is that we score the lead goal and then concede goals for various reasons.”
He added, “The biggest disappointment is that we are losing points that our opponents do not deserve. This has happened for the second match in a row, so we must be patient until we return to the path of victory.”
The Belgian coach blamed one of Zamalek’s players for the equalizer, without mentioning his name. He said, “Today’s goal against Ghazl El Mahalla was the result of a player’s poor positioning. No one can ask a player to position themselves incorrectly.”
It is most likely that Ferreira was referring to Mahmoud Bentaj or Omar Gaber, as they were the ones who contributed to Ghazl El Mahalla’s goal.
After this draw, Zamalek reached 18 points, remaining tied at first place with Al Masry. Ferreira’s future remains uncertain, especially with the increasing calls for his dismissal and accusations of his inability to manage matches effectively.
