Barcelona star Fermin Lopez has put an end to the speculation surrounding his possible departure from the Catalan club this summer with clear statements that are beyond interpretation.
The Spanish international has been linked with several major European clubs this summer, with English newspapers even reporting that Manchester United is willing to pay €70 million to sign him.
After Barcelona’s 5-0 win over Como in the Joan Gamper Trophy, Lopez clearly declared that he will remain with Barcelona regardless of the available offers, and that he is only thinking about continuing with the Catalan club.
“Everyone at Barcelona should be calm, because I will stay here. I will never leave Barcelona,” Lopez told Barça fans at the Johan Cruyff Stadium.
Spanish media outlets have confirmed that Barcelona coach Hansi Flick himself is the one who rejects Fermin’s departure, considering him untouchable as one of the most important players in the Blaugrana’s core.
The 22-year-old Fermin participated in 46 matches in all competitions for Barcelona last season, scoring 8 goals and providing 10 assists.
