Fan absence crisis threatens Al Ahly vs. Inter Miami match in Club World Cup

The Athletic revealed that the crisis of fans not attending the Inter Miami vs. Al Ahly match in the Club World Cup is a major concern for FIFA, which is trying to find effective solutions.

The Hard Rock Stadium, which seats more than 65,000 spectators, is scheduled to host the match, but so far, only about 25,000 tickets have been sold.

FIFA, under Gianni Infantino, expressly fears that the opening match will be held in empty stands, which would negatively impact the tournament even in the eyes of television viewers, in addition to the potential economic losses.

FIFA has already significantly reduced ticket prices for the opening match, but to no avail. The latest attempt to resolve the crisis was a historic offer for the people of Miami to enter Hard Rock Stadium.

FIFA sent promotional emails to entities affiliated with Miami Dade College, one of the colleges partnering with FIFA, asking for a ticket to the match for only $20, plus four additional free tickets. This effectively means that each ticket costs only $4.

FIFA is counting on this plan to save it, given that the entities affiliated with Miami Dade College have over 100,000 members.

It’s worth noting that tickets for the Al Ahly vs. Inter Miami match have been officially reduced to $55, half the price of last May. Tickets were priced at $350 in December, following the World Cup draw.
