Kim Min-jae’s future has returned to the forefront of the transfer market, with three European clubs placing the South Korean defender under close monitoring ahead of Bayern Munich’s decision regarding his contractual situation.
According to German journalist Christian Falk, AC Milan, Tottenham Hotspur, and Aston Villa made initial inquiries regarding Kim during the summer transfer window, though none of the trio submitted an official proposal at the time.
The 29-year-old center-back is under contract at the Allianz Arena until June 30, 2028. Bayern Munich management are expected to discuss his future this autumn, evaluating whether to offer a contract extension or make him available for transfer to fund alternative acquisitions.
Kim arrived at Bayern in July 2023 in a deal worth approximately €50 million, following a standout Serie A campaign with Napoli where he lifted the Scudetto and was named the league’s Best Defender.
The South Korean international featured in 25 Bundesliga matches during the 2025–2026 season, clocking 1,604 minutes while contributing one goal and one assist. Since moving to Munich, he has surpassed the 100-appearance mark across all competitions for the Bavarian giants.
AC Milan view Kim as a prime target to anchor Ruben Amorim’s three-man backline, relying on his proven experience in Italian football. Meanwhile, Tottenham and Aston Villa continue to monitor developments following their summer approaches, though a January transfer remains unlikely under current circumstances.
