Emam Ashour’s absence from Al Ahly will not be prolonged, and his return to the field is imminent, confirmed media personality Ahmed Shobeir in radio statements.
Emam Ashour suffered a broken collarbone while playing for Al Ahly in the opening match of the 2025 Club World Cup against Inter Miami two months ago. He underwent urgent surgery in the United States.
Al Ahly’s new season kicks off on August 9th, when they face Modern Sport at Cairo International Stadium in the first round of the Egyptian Premier League. Ashour will continue to be absent from the team during that match.
According to Shobeir, who is close to Al Ahly, the Egyptian international will be ready to return to Al Ahly matches again in the last week of August, and coach Jose Rivero will not risk him until he is certain he has fully recovered from the injury.
Emam’s collarbone injury isn’t new. He suffered it last year playing for the Egyptian national team. Due to his haste to return, the injury against Inter Miami worsened, requiring surgery. Al Ahly doesn’t want a repeat of the same scenario.
If things go as Al Ahly’s medical staff hopes, Emam Ashour will be ready for the upcoming match against Pyramids on August 30. This means he will miss the opening match against Modern Sport, as well as the matches against Pharco and Ghazl El Mahalla in the second and third rounds.
It’s worth noting that Emam Ashour was Al Ahly’s top scorer in the last edition of the Egyptian Premier League, scoring 13 goals. His return represents significant technical and moral value for the Red Castle.
