Egyptian football witnessed one of its most exciting nights, as the final round of matches in the title race was played simultaneously in Cairo, Alexandria, and Ismailia.
Leader Zamalek visited Smouha at Borg El Arab Stadium, while second-placed Pyramids traveled to Ismailia to face Ceramica Cleopatra at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium. Meanwhile, Al Ahly hosted Enppi at Cairo International Stadium.
Al Ahly took a two-goal lead against Enppi in the first half, while Zamalek and Smouha played to a goalless draw. In Ismailia, Ceramica and Pyramids also drew 1-1.
However, in the second half, Oday Dabbagh scored the winning goal for Zamalek against Smouha. The score remained unchanged between Cairo and Ismailia, with Al Ahly adding a third goal to secure the victory.
Thus, Zamalek reached 53 points and maintained their lead after two setbacks against Enppi (a goalless draw) and Al Ahly (a 3-0 loss).
Pyramids FC sits in second place with 51 points, while Al Ahly is third with 50 points.
This means Zamalek only needs one point to officially clinch the title when they face Ceramica Cleopatra in the final round. Pyramids, on the other hand, needs Zamalek to lose and for Al Ahly to defeat Smouha in order to secure their first-ever league title.
It’s worth noting that Al Ahly still has a chance of winning the title, but they need Zamalek to lose and for Pyramids to draw or lose, while Al Ahly must defeat Al Masry in the final round.
