While many believed the title was headed to “Mit Okba” after Zamalek’s 1-0 victory over Pyramids in Round 3, the “White Knights” suffered a setback with a draw against Enppi and a crushing 3-0 defeat to Al Ahly in the Cairo Derby.

Current Egyptian Premier League Standings (Top 3)

  • Zamalek – 50 Points
  • Pyramids – 50 Points
  • Al Ahly – 47 Points

Zamalek SC: The Path to Glory

Zamalek holds its destiny in its own hands. To be crowned champions of the 2026 Egyptian League, the path is straightforward: Win the remaining two matches.

Remaining Fixtures: Smouha SC and Ceramica Cleopatra.

The Scenario: If Zamalek wins both games, they will reach 56 points. Even if Pyramids also wins both, Zamalek takes the trophy due to the head-to-head advantage over Pyramids.

Pyramids FC: Waiting for a Slip-up

Pyramids FC is dreaming of its first-ever league title. However, they need a favor from Zamalek’s opponents.

Remaining Fixtures: Ceramica Cleopatra and Smouha SC.

The Scenario: Pyramids must win both matches and hope Zamalek drops points (a draw or a loss) in at least one game. In this case, Pyramids would finish with 56 points, surpassing Zamalek by at least 2 points.

Al Ahly SC: The Miracle Scenario

Unlike their rivals, Al Ahly’s fate is not entirely in their hands. The “Red Devils” need a series of specific results to retain their title.

  • Remaining Fixtures: Enppi and Al Masry (at Borg El Arab Stadium).
  • The Scenario: Al Ahly must win both matches to reach 53 points. Simultaneously, they need:
  • Zamalek to lose both of its remaining matches (staying at 50 points).
  • Pyramids to lose both of its remaining matches (staying at 50 points).

The Obstacle: Al Ahly’s biggest concern is Pyramids’ head-to-head advantage, which favors Jurčić’s squad in certain tie-breaking situations.

What Happens if the Three Teams Tie on Points?

If all three teams finish with the same number of points (e.g., if Al Ahly wins both and the others lose/draw appropriately to meet at 53 points), a “mini-league” of head-to-head results among the three teams is used to determine the winner.

The Outcome: Under this specific tie-breaker, Pyramids FC would be crowned champions, Al Ahly would finish as runners-up, and Zamalek would drop to third place.
