Mohamed Salah did not participate with the Pharaohs due to an injury he sustained while playing for Liverpool against Brighton two weeks prior. Meanwhile, the Green Falcons suffered from numerous absences, which clearly impacted their performance throughout the ninety minutes.
Egypt took a 3-0 lead in the first half, with goals from Islam Issa, Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, and Ahmed Sayed Zizo.

Despite the match being held at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium (The Shining Jewel), the Egyptian fans outnumbered the Saudi Arabian supporters in the stands, contributing to the increased motivation and enthusiasm of Hossam Hassan’s squad.
This result raises many questions about the future of coach Hervé Renard with Saudi Arabia, especially given the growing calls for his dismissal following the team’s lackluster performances in the World Cup qualifiers and subsequent friendlies.
It’s worth noting that Egypt will travel to Catalonia for a friendly match against Spain on March 31st, the same day Saudi Arabia will face Serbia.
