Gianluigi Donnarumma has agreed to join Manchester City during the current summer transfer window, but the deal remains extremely complicated.
Donnarumma was excluded from Paris Saint-Germain’s plans this season after negotiations to renew his contract, which expires next summer, stalled. The French club signed Lucas Chevalier to become Luis Enrique’s first-choice goalkeeper.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, contact has taken place between Donnarumma and City’s management in recent days, and the Italian goalkeeper has indeed said yes to a move to Pep Guardiola’s side.
However, Manchester City must first get rid of goalkeeper Ederson, a move that doesn’t seem impossible given the advanced negotiations between the Brazilian and Galatasaray. However, there has been no agreement between the Turkish and English clubs so far.
If Ederson leaves, negotiations between City and PSG are expected to begin, which will also be extremely complicated. The French club wants €50 million for Donnarumma, which the English club considers an exaggerated price, given that he only has one year left on his contract.
It’s worth noting that Manchester City brought back goalkeeper James Trafford this summer, but his disappointing performance against Tottenham forced the club to move quickly to find another reliable first-choice goalkeeper.
