It appears that goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma will leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer, after renewal negotiations between the two parties reached a dead end, and the French club has begun working on the post-Italian era.
Donnarumma, one of PSG’s key heroes last season, has a contract that expires in the summer of 2026, and officials at the Parisian giants have tried to convince him to renew, but his financial demands are currently preventing the deal from being finalized.
According to L’Equipe, Paris Saint-Germain has finalized its agreement with Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, and the club’s management has entered into negotiations with its counterparts to finalize the deal. Lille is reportedly seeking €40 million for the player.
The Chevalier deal is further confirmation that Paris Saint-Germain are not planning to keep Donnarumma for next season, and that the club would prefer to make some money off him rather than see him leave for free in the summer of 2026.
Donnarumma has attracted interest from several major European clubs. According to L’Equipe, the two Manchester clubs interested in signing him are Manchester United and City, as well as Chelsea, with a lucrative offer from Turkish club Galatasaray.
United is looking for a reliable new goalkeeper to replace André Onana. Emiliano Martinez was manager Ruben Amorim’s primary target, but Aston Villa refused to loan him to Old Trafford.
On the other hand, City is looking for additional reinforcements in the goalkeeping position. After the signing of James Trafford, Stevan Ortega and Ederson are expected to leave, meaning they will need another goalkeeper to compete with the former Burnley keeper for the starting spot at the Etihad Stadium.
It appears the battle will be intense between United and City over the deal for Donnarumma, who has yet to make a final decision on his new destination.
