Diaz’s phenomenal goal… and Bayern Munich stumble for the first time with a draw against Union Berlin

Bayern Munich’s winning streak this season came to an end after the Bavarian club could only manage a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Union Berlin in the tenth round of the Bundesliga.

Bayern Munich had won 16 out of 16 matches in all competitions at the start of the season, a record in Europe’s top five leagues, but they looked fatigued after playing with ten men for much of their 2-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday.

Kompany made just one change to Bayern Munich’s starting lineup on Saturday, and it was evident as the visitors struggled to create many scoring opportunities in the early stages.

Union had an early goal ruled out for offside, but they took the lead in the 27th minute when Duike slotted the ball past Manuel Neuer from close range.

The defending champions were pinned back in their own penalty area, but they scored on one of their first attempts on goal, with Diaz somehow managing an unexpected goal just before halftime.

The Colombian striker collected a loose ball, turned past a defender, and unleashed a powerful shot from a tight angle.

Dwecki then fired a shot through the crowded penalty area and into the corner of the net to put Union ahead with seven minutes remaining.

But with Union on the verge of their first-ever win against Bayern, Kane struck in the 93rd minute to preserve his team’s unbeaten record this season.

Despite dropping points, Bayern Munich remain top of the table with a six-point lead, having benefited from RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund also losing on Saturday.
