Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed his openness to fulfilling his contract with the English club and remaining at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2027.
Numerous rumors have circulated in recent weeks regarding Guardiola’s desire to end his tenure with City at the end of the current season, and it has been suggested that the prestigious club has already begun searching for a new manager to succeed “The Philosopher.”
In the pre-match press conference before the Newcastle game, Guardiola said about Manchester City this season, “We are not a complete team to compete for a solid title… that’s the reality, but we are in a phase where there are many changes.”
He added, “If we can learn faster, and nothing is lost yet, we can reach the final month with opportunities.”
He concluded by hinting at his desire to continue with City, “But I am absolutely certain that next season will be better… next season will be better, I have no doubts about that.”
Manchester City drew with Nottingham Forest last Wednesday, widening the gap with Premier League leaders Arsenal to seven points.
Following their hard-fought match against Newcastle, City now prepare for an even tougher challenge when they travel to the Santiago Bernabéu to face Real Madrid on Monday in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie.
