Despite the reconciliation, Germans launch a fierce attack on Barcelona over Ter Stegen

The German players’ union launched a fierce attack on Barcelona over the way the Catalan club treated Marc-André ter Stegen in recent months.

Although relations between Ter Stegen and Barcelona have been mended and the crisis resolved following a meeting between the goalkeeper and president Joan Laporta, German officials believe the 33-year-old was humiliated.

Christian Ramelow, German football legend and president of the association, commented on the crisis, “They are treating him in a humiliating manner. What image has Barcelona been projecting to the outside world recently? It’s a very bad image, in my opinion. To end the matter this way, I have no words to express it.”

Ramelow’s position follows a similar stance by the German Football Association, which, through its various leadership, affirmed its full support for Ter Stegen in his crisis with Barcelona.

The goalkeeper eventually agreed to sign a medical report stating that he would be out for four months, meaning he won’t return to action until next January.

Ter Stegen is expected to spend his final days at Camp Nou, where he will be forced to leave in January, either on loan or permanently, to ensure he can play regularly for another club and, consequently, participate with the German national team in the 2026 World Cup.
