Aston Villa have placed Manchester City star Omar Marmoush at the top of their list of transfer targets for Unai Emery’s squad during the current winter transfer window, although securing the Egyptian international’s signature appears to be a very complicated task.
Marmoush lost his starting place at City at the beginning of this season, and his situation is expected to worsen with the official arrival of Antoine Simeone at Pep Guardiola’s club in a deal that cost the English giants £65 million.
According to English media reports, Emery himself is determined to sign Marmoush and believes the “Egyptian Prince” can make an immediate impact on the attack at Villa Park.
For now, Marmoush remains committed to staying at City and fighting for his place, and Pep Guardiola also wants the 25-year-old to stay due to the long season ahead and the need for a large number of strikers to cover for injuries.
However, Aston Villa are betting that Marmoush will eventually want a bigger role, which will change his mind and lead him to leave City. At that point, the third-placed Premier League club would be the ideal option for him.
It’s worth noting that Sky Germany has reported interest from several Bundesliga clubs in re-signing Marmoush, especially since it was in the Bundesliga that the Egyptian star shone. However, it’s expected that the player would prefer to remain in the Premier League if he leaves City on loan.
