As reported that Barcelona president Joan Laporta congratulated the Catalan club’s players for their fight and outstanding performance against Inter, despite their Champions League semi-final exit.
The Catalan president made sure to go down to the dressing room after the second leg, with Inter winning 4-3 and advancing to the final, and thanked Hansi Flick’s squad for their strength in both matches.
Laporta refused to criticize or blame anyone for the European exit, but instead thanked the players for their effort and praised their competitive spirit, as the team did not give up despite the difficulties, including the refereeing.
Laporta clearly told the Barcelona players: “You can leave with your heads held high. The fans are very proud of you.”
The Catalan president urged the Barça stars to look to the long term and strive to come back stronger next season, reach the final, and win the title this time.
Laporta also said: “We will try again and perform better.” Barcelona still has the opportunity to finish the season in style, as the Blaugrana lead La Liga by four points over Real Madrid, and a victory in Sunday’s El Clásico would secure Hansi Flick’s side the domestic double.
