Recent video footage shows that Kylian Mbappé is still experiencing pain in his knee and has not fully recovered, contrary to Real Madrid’s earlier announcements.
Mbappé was included in the squad that traveled to England for the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 match against Manchester City.
During Monday’s training session, Mbappé appeared to be in pain at the start of the warm-up, clutching his knee and displaying a clearly distressed expression, confirming that he is still struggling with the injury.
This was repeated several times during training, as the French star tested his knee, but the footage showed that he is not yet ready to return to matches and is still affected by the injury.
In any case, it is unlikely that Álvaro Arbeloa will use Mbappé in the City match for more than a few minutes, and he may not even use him at all if things go as expected without any surprises from the home side.
The player is expected to need more time to recover, and it is also unlikely that he will participate in Atletico Madrid’s next La Liga match, the last one before the international break.
